Share your story
Have you lived through an emergency? Did you experience North America's
largest power outage in 2003? Did you live through the Kelowna forest fires of
2003? Did Hurricane Juan or the 1998 ice storm teach you some lessons? Were you
able to get by for at least the first 72 hours on your own? We want to hear your
story. Sharing it will help others to be better prepared.
Also, be sure to read the 72 hour stories,
accounts of what others have done to get through those first crucial hours of an
emergency.
To help you get started on your own story, here is what you can explain:
Keep your story to between 500 to 1,000 words in length.
All personal information collected through this site is protected under the
Privacy Act.
We are requesting your email address and phone number so that any details of
the story may be verified and so that we can let you know when your story is
posted online.
Please be aware that by submitting a story:
- You are granting Her Majesty in Right of Canada, as represented by Public
Safety Canada, the right to reproduce, translate, modify and adapt your story
for publication on
Getprepared.ca.
- You agree to waive your moral rights in the story;
- You consent to being identified as the author of the story, should your story
be retained and published;. and
- You agree that under no circumstances, including, but not limited to,
negligence, shall Her Majesty in Right of Canada, the Minister of Public Safety
and their officers, employees and representatives be liable for any direct,
indirect, special, incidental or consequential damages of any kind arising from
your submission of the story.
